Your Blog and AI
Some basics about using AI to help your blog:
First off as said above, using AI to help your blog can help in many ways. If you copy and paste articles direct, as is, from AI, you will end up losing out. AI can not generate the same context as you can, AI uses its own words, not yours. Use AI to get a basic article written, then add or change words to suit your own web site and audience. Always check any AI content for intended context, spelling, and punctuation. Use AI as a helper or assistant, make sure your published copy is using your own words and intent.
There is not really such a thing as actual artificial intelligence, this is only a more advanced program that collects and compiles information that you have access to through various searches. Using AI makes multiple searches and compilation of results much quicker, but in the end that is all it does. AI can help and assist you, that is all, make sure your blog content is actually your own.
Some ideas:
Since it’s a personal/lifestyle blog, here’s where AI tends to help most without making the writing feel generic or stripping out your voice — which is the biggest risk for this kind of blog specifically, since readers come for you.
Where AI genuinely helps
Getting unstuck — Feed in a rough idea or a voice memo transcript and ask for 3-5 different angles or outlines. Great for beating blank-page paralysis.
First-draft structure — Turning a messy brain-dump into a logical flow (intro → story → takeaway → close). You then rewrite it in your actual voice rather than publishing the AI draft.
Editing pass — Tightening sentences, catching repetition, flagging where you’ve buried the point. This is where AI adds the most value with the least risk to your voice.
Headlines/hooks — Generating a batch of title options or opening lines to choose from, since these benefit from volume and testing.
Repurposing — Turning a finished post into the social content we talked about earlier (carousels, threads, etc.) — this is a great use since the creative work is already done.
Where I’d be careful
Full drafts from a prompt — For lifestyle blogging specifically, this tends to read as generic because the whole appeal is your specific experiences and phrasing. If you do this, treat it as a rough skeleton to heavily rewrite, not a draft to polish.
Anecdotes/personal stories — AI can’t invent these authentically. Write these yourself, then use AI for structure/editing around them.
A workflow that keeps your voice intact
- You write the raw story/idea (even messy, bullet points fine)
- AI helps structure it into a draft
- You rewrite passages in your own voice/phrasing
- AI does a tightening/editing pass
- You do a final read for voice and accuracy
